big news for gmommy

They had a big meeting last Thursday with G-mommy. It was G-mommy, mom, aunt darlene, uncle darrell, the surgeon, head of the medical staff, wound care people, and her case worker. All discussing what the plans are for gmommys future. So the plan is . . . as of right now. . . gmommy will go home on Monday! Now a few things have happened since then that might delay that. Their trying to get her wound well enough by Friday so they can put a pouch on it instead of bandages, but it's leaking so much that they're not sure if they can. If they can't pouch it or if it doesn't lessen some they will delay her going home a few days. Also she has a fever so they put her on antibiotics but hopefully that will only be like a day or so and she'll be fine by Friday or Saturday. So anyways we're hoping that everything works out fine and she gets to leave Monday.

The amazing thing about it all is that it comes just days short of her insurance running out. She will have to go to the hospital twice a week for the wound care people to check her out. She will have a nurse come a few times a week to administer her TPN. And my mom will be staying from Sunday-Thursday, my aunt will relieve her for the weekend, then she'll go back again from Sunday-Thursday again, and my uncle will relieve her for the weekend. Then she'll have a nurse come and stay with her some. There's all this stuff that they've had to get before she gets home like a new walker that has a seat, another potty chair so she'll have 2, lots of shower curtains to put down on stuff, just all kinds of things. They have rolled up all her rugs and put them in the attic so she won't trip over them. There's just plenty of things that have had to be done.

Something else that we're all kind of laughing about is that gmommy has made a list of things she wants my mom to get at the grocery store to eat. She plans on my mom cooking a lot. However here's the kicker, gmommy cant eat yet. We've told her that hundreds of times, the doctor has told her over and over again but it still hasn't gotten through to her yet. So we just let her make her lists cause it makes her happy. She also sometimes seems to live in her own little world where she thinks that she'll walk into her house and magically be fine. She thinks she's going to drive herself to the doctors office sometimes, she's going to go to the grocery store, she's gonna cook and get out in her yard. . . . it's pretty crazy. I feel bad that for her because it's going to be a huge let down for her when she realizes that she can't do any of that. She'll pretty much be able to sit there and watch tv, play games, read, etc. But she can't go in the front yard or down to the creek probably because of the steep hill. But luckily her flower garden is in the back and she can sit out there and enjoy that. I know she'll just love being back in her kitchen looking out the window watching the hummingbirds feed. Even though she won't be able to do a lot of the things that she wants to she'll still just be so happy to be home.

So that's whats going on. She should be going home on Monday!!!
