COMMON SENSE/COMMON COURTESY

Now days many people don't seem to have simple common sense and they especially don't seem to have and any common courtesy! I'm tired of dealing with these idiots and ass holes so here are some helpful tips to those of you who fall into these categories!

Driving tips
  • If your getting out of another cars way to let them pass move over into the right hand lane. DO NOT get into the left hand lane! You will only piss off the people that are in that lane, which are driving faster than the person you just let pass!
  • If you are driving in the far left lane you had better be going at least 5 miles over the speed limit. However, if you are going 10 miles over don't feel like you should get over if some one comes up behind you wanting to go faster. I know I'm not getting out of their way if I'm already going 10 miles over.
  • There is a reason why your car has blinkers on it. . . . USE THEM ! ! !
  • Don't leave your blinkers on for an extended period of time. Most likely someone will think your turning and pull out in front of you and you will be hit. Plus it's just incredibly annoying seeing someone drive around with the blinkers on and they never turn.
  • I understand that some people are going to talk on their phone or eat while driving and some women will put on their makeup too, but there are some things that are just beyond ridiculous. I saw a woman plucking her eyebrows while she sat at a stop light! I've seen another person working on their lap top in the passenger seat! DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE!!!
  • If you own a fancy car such as a Jaguar you do not need a license plate that reads "up gr8d"!!! Just owning the car makes you a jack ass you don't need to boast it just makes you an incredibly cocky, arrogant, smug, conceited ASS HOLE!
  • Speaking of stupid license plates don't get ones that say things like vroom... or lkmytoy
  • When your at a red light slowing creeping up inch by inch is not going to make the light change any fast. You just make yourself look stupid.
  • If your looking for a parking spot and see someone coming out of the store DON'T wait for them to load up their vehicle and leave just so you can get their space! Your pissing off the cars that are behind you. It makes you an incredibly selfish person and chances are you need to park in the back of the parking lot cause you need to walk to loose some weight! If you have a medical EXCUSE for needing that spot then you need to go to the doctor and get a handicap sign so you can park in the handicap spots if your that desperate.
  • Speaking of parking spots it doesn't matter if your just running in to get something DO NOT take up more than one parking spot! Even if your not over the line you still might be hindering others from parking next to you because you have parked so close to the line they wouldn't be able to get out of their car. It is selfish and inconsiderate.
  • When driving on the highway, if your in the exit only lane and it's not your exit and you can't get back over DON'T FREAK OUT!!! If you get off at the exit there is normally an on ramp on the other side or at least across the over pass. It isn't a big deal. DO NOT stop in the exit lane and block traffic trying to get back over. Also DO NOT slam on breaks in the space right in front of the exit sign, in between the exit and lanes of traffic. Most people are not going to let you back over and who ever is nice enough to let you in is still going to be mad at you because your a moron!
  • Also if your in one of the left lanes don't fly across traffic trying to catch your exit. If you were stupid enough not to pay attention to the fact that your exit is coming up to get over sooner than you don't decerve to get over. Get off on one of the next exits and double back around. IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!! but you might end someone elses by wrecking.

Thanksgiving Craze

Thanksgiving this year was filled with love, laughter and loads of stress. You see when you no longer live with your parents, spending a weekend "traped" with them will drive you crazy. And I spent wednesday-sunday with them so I was definately losing my mind. We stayed at my sister's house which can also be a bit stressful too lol. My sister obviously no longer lives with our parents so being "traped" with them for a few days makes her a lil crazy too. She also has 3 children, 2boys ages 7 and 5, and a girl who is 6weeks old. Naturally it's a loud and busy house hahaha. . . My niece is sooo precious! I got some great shots of her this weekend and they are just too cute! Now my nephews will definately wear you out. They love to wrestle, run, dance, be loud, etc. lol. But hey their little boys that's what they do and we wouldn't want them any other way. Don't get me wrong I love my nephews they are sweet, thoughtful, loving, and hilarious! But being a single person who lives alone I'm just not use to the noise and busyness of it all hahaha. Let me tell you if you were thinking of having kids or know someone that is you should send them to spend the weekend over there and see if they can handle it, cause it will certainly make you appricate your life. Now I do want kids some day a long long long long long time from now and hanging out over there just helps me remember that lol.

So I just got to say I think my sister is one of the most amazing people ever! She is one of my heros for sure. She had an emergency c-section with the first one, a planed c-section with the other two but had an emergency historectomy, which she could have died from, with the last one and never misses a beat. She deals with two little boys and a 6 week old girl and does it miraculously. It blows me away that she handels all that like it's no big deal and also deals with our parents being there lol. I know that it's just something you do when your a parent, but I'm not one so I think it's an amazing ability hahaha. . . One day in the very very very distant future I'll have kids and I'll be doing it too and I know that she'll definatly be a great influence on me as I go through it all. Every time she's been pregnant she tells me what I should and shouldn't do when I get pregnant. Everything from food you should stay away from to medical procedures that hurt like hell lol. I'll probably be calling her several times a week when I'm pregnant hahahaha. . . . Forget needing to read books about it I got Erin Kehren as my sister and she's wonderful! She is the best sister anyone could ever have!
Eddie and I playing Jenga. The score is 1-1 we gota break the tie at christmas.

one more down, and a whole lot of ranting

  • Well I finished fall quarter at SCAD-Atlanta on Thursday the 19th. Needless to say it's a big load off my shoulders . . . at least for a little while. I took Project Seminar II, which is a class where you decide what you want your project to be and use the whole quarter (10weeks) to complete it in. It's obviously my favorite class hahahaha. . . . I also took Documentary Photography, which I would not recommend anyone taking cause I hated it. My teacher was the same teacher I had for Seminar II so I had her for two classes and she was a HORRIBLE teacher. Besides having an awful teacher the class was just stupid and completely useless. There was also History of Photography I. I took History of Photography II during spring quarter online, aparently they don't care in what order you learn history as long as you learn it. History I wasn't that bad. Actually the best history class I've ever had. The teacher didn't care if we learned stuff or not or if we payed attention. He gave us the test two weeks before we actually take it to memorize exactly whats on it and in the exact order. However we had to hand write all of it! So that was a huge pain in the butt!!! Your hand would be sore for the rest of the day, cause your pretty much hand writing a 20 page paper during class. I am extremely happy to say though that I only have 4 more classes to take before I graduate! WOO HOO! I can the light at the end of the tunnel. . . I am so ready to get out of SCAD. Yes I am glad that I got to go here because it looks great on a resume and I got to learn all the technical things in a class instead of trying to learning them on my own from a book or the internet. But just because SCAD is an art school doesn't mean that it enhances your creativity. In fact it's just about killed mine.
  • You have to understand the kind of people at SCAD. The small groups of weird, nerdy, artsie, freaky people that you went to high school with are now the majority. You would think that anyone could fit in but it's quite the opposite in the strangest way. I am segregated because I don't own anything from rue21, pacsun, or wetseal. I don't do drugs of any kind (and yes the stereotype that most art students do drugs is very true! and their very open about it). And you would not believe the amount of nude people you see; from life size drawings of people hanging in the halls, to actual nude photographs that students took for a project or are showing a photographers work that has influenced them. I do not look at porn, I do not look at nude art photographs and I certainly do not want to see what someone I know and have to see almost everyday looks like naked! Yes there is a difference between porn and nudes but that line is thin! There are people that are very close to that line and some that I feel have crossed it, but in the world or art everything is personal opinion. I guess I am just much more discreet about my body and showing it off to the freakin world. lol. So yea I feel like in the past couple of quarters SCAD is becoming over run with drugs, nudity and sex. O yes people SEX! It was disgusting! A student made a multimedia piece (for those of you who don't know what that means it's photos put with sound and sometimes a short clip thrown in there) for a project and took pictures of people doing drugs, getting drunk, and having sex. Another student took photographs of people shooting up heroin for a project. But that's not even the worst of it. . . teachers show us examples of other photographers work and we normally have to give a presentation in all our classes of one or more photographers who have influenced us. Those are where it gets really bad. Photos of people having sex are always disgusting to me but the worst one that I think was shown was Thomas Ruff. This man no longer takes photos, he now downloads porn off the internet and blurs it and calls it art. I'm sorry I can still tell what's going on in the photographs. It's still porn!!! Another extremely disgusting image we were shown in a different class was a picture of a guy snorting cocaine off another guys penis! I'm sorry but that is not art, that isn't anything but incredibly indecent, crude, filthy, vile, disguesting and many other words that I could type but I think you get my point!
  • Now I hate to use titles such as normal to label people, but it's the best way for me to explain my point. In my life, my world, where I come from I am normal. I shop at Old Navy, department stores, Kholes, Target, etc. I wear flip flops or my New Balance tennieshoes all the time. I listen to r&b, rap, hip hop, pop, country, and rock. So just those few things right there, being at SCAD I am no longer the norm. I'm the person that's out of place. I also don't have a tattoo so that automatically makes me the weird one. I've got nothing against tattoo's, I know lots of people that have them and I even want one. I don't have one right now and that's all they notice.
  • So because of my looks I am segregated by my fellow students but because of how I think and feel I am segregated my my teachers. The student who takes self nude photos will get an A but I can take pictures of landscapes, architecture, nature, or found objects, put in just as much work if not more into my project and get a B. Simply because I didn't do something profoundly deep, conceptual or in my terms CREEPY!
  • So it's pretty obvious that I am ready to get out of SCAD. I love that I have gotten the chance to learn all the technical aspects of photography in a classroom with other people and not have to stuggle trying to figure it out on my own cause I could have never done it. I'm sure my teachers are ready for me to graduate because we butt heads on a weekly basis because I stand by my values and beliefs. Being graded on something by someones personal opinion is almost demoralizing and I'm sick of it.

a daily miracle

So I know I'm a little late to be posting this but o well it's earlier than Erin and it happened to her lol. Anyways my beautiful, amazing, older sister finally had her baby. A beautiful little girl named Ansley. She is the cutest little girl ever! And so precious, mainly because of her small size hahaha. . . She was so tiny! Every time I held her she got the hiccups. I felt bad cause she was getting up set cause the hiccups were disrupting her sleep but it was also really cute and funny! I'm not going to go into all the details of the day or weekend becuase there was a lot going on and I'm sure Erin with post something eventually lol. So here are a couple of the pics I took.

and here's Eddie with all his scrubs on, hair net, and trying to figure out how to put the mask on . . . needless to say it was hilarious to watch! lol

not much going on

I really need to start blogging more often instead of once a month. . . well there hasn't been a whole lot going on. Other than SCAD aggravating the crap outa me. I took classes during summer quarter and let me just say NICE!!! It was pretty relaxing, mainly cause there were only like 5 people in each of my classes and there was hardly anyone ever at school. I could park right at the front on the level I wanted to in the parking deck. It was great! Now it's fall quarter and the school is running wild with freshman and idiots, which most fall into both categories. The parking deck is full and I have trouble remembering where I park my car. Not to mention that the parking deck is one way and I have had to stop on many occasions and wait for the moron driving the wrong way to back up and get outa my way cause I won't move (hahaha...). Also the freshmen will ask you the stupidest questions ever! For example one asked me "is this elevator going up?" I just stood there and stared at her like the idiot she is, because WE WERE ON THE BOTTOM FLOOR!!! Seriously I couldn't believe that she had just asked that. Many of them would ask what floor their class was on even after school had been going on for 3 weeks! But it's not just the freshman that are idiots, o no it's older students as well, many graduate students that have been here for a while. This one woman in my class, who was also in a class with me during the summer, has been shown how to use the printers at least 3x's during the summer and 2x's this quarter and still doesn't know how to use it!!! Another girl has a job as a photographer and editor for a newspaper here in Atlanta. She's been working as one for many years now and what does she do the first week of school . . . she messes up one of the printers cause she PUT THE PAPER IN BACKWARDS! I'm serious you can't make this stuff up! So the printer had to be cleaned and fixed before anyone could use it again. I'm still in shock that she did that! Well besides the moronic students that go here the faculty and staff are stupid also. I've got one teacher that has been teacher here for a year and still has no clue how to use the printers nor how to check stuff outa the cave or from Travis, guy in charge of fixing photo equipment and checking it out to people! There's also the administrative staff that handle registering and finance, who have no idea what classes you need to take, when you should take them, if you've paid tuition, or pretty much anything at all! And let's not forget the huge statue that their putting up on the front lawn of the school! This ridiculous box sculpture right in the middle of the grass. And they freakin closed down 2 1/2 lanes of traffic on Peachtree to do this. So people are driving half on one lane and half on the turn lane. Good job SCAD, back traffic up and make people late to work and your students late for class! And I really don't see the need to re-landscape the flowers every season of the year! The people actually paying money to the school, the students, do not give a crap about the damn flowers! How about spending money on things that actually need to be fixed such as; new computers or at least fix the ones we got now, new printers in the print lab, more printers for regular printing in the computer labs, fix the elevators that are messed up so that more people don't get stuck in them, more books in the library considering Atl's is probably not even a fraction of Sav's., and the list goes on. . .

Like No Others

I have got the best friends in the world. They are always there for me in my time of sorrow and pain. They are great listeners and only want the best for me, and i only want the best for them as well. With out my friends i would be lost and without comfort. They help lift me up when im down. They pray for me when i am in need. They mean the world to me and i dont know what i would do with out a any of them. We are a special group, a unit, and without just one of us the bunch would be incomplete. We are all so different from each other and yet there is something that also brings us all together. God has a plan for each of us. Totally different from one another and yet He brought us all together through our time together as kids. We have grown up together, shared adventures, experiences, and heartaches. What we didnt share together we shared in stories during slumber parties, annual dinners, phone calls, and emails. There are 6 of us, we went to 5 different schools, had different home lives, and even have some different views on life and yet we all grew in the same church. God has a plan for each of us and we are all a part of the others plan. Gods plan for us as friends started in 1988 and continues to this day. As adults, college graduates, and spouses we still make time for each other. We have watched each other grow and change and continue to. We care about one another like no one else. No one can take the place of even a single one of them. I love these girls with all my heart. They are my best friends, they always have been and always will be.

ice cream experience

so my g-mommy and me went to get a dipped ice cream cone at mcdonalds the other day and had a hilarious experience with them. the girl who made them obviously didnt really know what she was doing. ok so when you put ice cream on a cone you swirl it up not around over the edges of the cone. well thats what this girl did. she put way too much ice cream on the cone and it was coming over the sides before she even dipped it in the chocolate. so when she was finally done and handed me the cone ice cream was dripping down all the sides. i grabbed a bunch of napkins knowing i was gonna need all of them. so g-mommys was just like mine. we went outside to eat them. we were just gonna stand by the car eat them real quick and then go back to the house. well. . . . we stood out there for who knows how long trying to eat these things. ice cream was dripping all down my left hand. i kept wiping it off with all those napkins, but it didnt help. after a while g-mommy decided we should go sit on the front of her car (b/c we were facing mcdonalds and the drive through line and she didnt want people to see us lookin crazy hahahaha). so she sat on the hood of the car as ice cream dripped all down her hand and onto her pants and shoes. not to mention that she had ice cream and chocolate all around her mouth and on her nose. IT WAS SO FUNNY! i was cracking up. . . but i wasnt just laughing at her i was laughing at myself too. because my ice cream was so far over the edges of the cone, after i had eaten a good bit off the top of the chocolate, the chocolate was sliding down the ice cream and cone towards my hand. so i slide it off the top and just held this big piece of hard chocolate in my right hand. so after just a couple of min.s my left hand was just about covered in ice cream and i had chocolate melting in my right hand. hahahaha. . . . we finally ate most of it at least down to where the wrapper is on the cone, then threw it away. there was ice cream all over our hands and the ground. lol. we had to go back into mcdonalds to wash our hands and face before we got into the car. we were laughing so hard! i was crying i was laughing so hard. IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!

rambling

ok so i got this blog cause its late and i cant sleep. lol. so im just going to ramble.
So i'v been in college since 2005 and im tired of it. I started off as an education major at Darton college. i then changed to a special education major still at Darton. Then in 2007 i decided i didnt want to be a teacher. I could be a teacher and deal with it but if im going to do something for the rest of my life its going to be something i absolutely love doing. So i decided i was going to be photographer. My mom was totally supportive and thought it was an awesome idea. My dad however wasnt so sure. Its not that he didnt want me to be happy its just that he wants me to be able to support myself you know hav a steady pay check. See my father is a lawyer. A workaholic. He has a hard time understanding people that have jobs that arent laywer, doctor, nurse, teacher, policeman, fireman, etc. The top jobs that you were thaught about in school as a child pretty much. Even though he didnt understand my feelings to be a photographer instead of a teacher he went along with it, mainly cause he knew he didnt have a choice. You see its me and my older sister, yup two girls. So weve totally got him wrapped. lol. But anyways.... so i applied to SCAD-Atlanta and got in with no trouble. So we found a condo very close to where the school is and iv been here since january 2008. Its been pretty cool. Some of the teachers are really cool and then some are just a pain in the ass. So there ya go a myth put to rest, art school is just like other schools, still hard, still got homework, studying, papers, and test. I guess the main difference in art school and an acadimic school would be the people that attend the school. The minority groups i.e. the freaks, weirdos, and such are now the majority. Also there is a pretty large gay community in art schools. Iv got no problem with it but helping my friend find a man is becoming a challenge. lol. Iv got a boyfriend thank the Lord! I dont know how i would survive this crazynes of life for the past couple of years without him. Anyways ill be graduating Lord willing next year (2010). My degree will be a b.f.a. with my concentration being in photography. Im so ready to be done with all this school crap. But thats a whole nother story.
