big news for gmommy

They had a big meeting last Thursday with G-mommy. It was G-mommy, mom, aunt darlene, uncle darrell, the surgeon, head of the medical staff, wound care people, and her case worker. All discussing what the plans are for gmommys future. So the plan is . . . as of right now. . . gmommy will go home on Monday! Now a few things have happened since then that might delay that. Their trying to get her wound well enough by Friday so they can put a pouch on it instead of bandages, but it's leaking so much that they're not sure if they can. If they can't pouch it or if it doesn't lessen some they will delay her going home a few days. Also she has a fever so they put her on antibiotics but hopefully that will only be like a day or so and she'll be fine by Friday or Saturday. So anyways we're hoping that everything works out fine and she gets to leave Monday.

The amazing thing about it all is that it comes just days short of her insurance running out. She will have to go to the hospital twice a week for the wound care people to check her out. She will have a nurse come a few times a week to administer her TPN. And my mom will be staying from Sunday-Thursday, my aunt will relieve her for the weekend, then she'll go back again from Sunday-Thursday again, and my uncle will relieve her for the weekend. Then she'll have a nurse come and stay with her some. There's all this stuff that they've had to get before she gets home like a new walker that has a seat, another potty chair so she'll have 2, lots of shower curtains to put down on stuff, just all kinds of things. They have rolled up all her rugs and put them in the attic so she won't trip over them. There's just plenty of things that have had to be done.

Something else that we're all kind of laughing about is that gmommy has made a list of things she wants my mom to get at the grocery store to eat. She plans on my mom cooking a lot. However here's the kicker, gmommy cant eat yet. We've told her that hundreds of times, the doctor has told her over and over again but it still hasn't gotten through to her yet. So we just let her make her lists cause it makes her happy. She also sometimes seems to live in her own little world where she thinks that she'll walk into her house and magically be fine. She thinks she's going to drive herself to the doctors office sometimes, she's going to go to the grocery store, she's gonna cook and get out in her yard. . . . it's pretty crazy. I feel bad that for her because it's going to be a huge let down for her when she realizes that she can't do any of that. She'll pretty much be able to sit there and watch tv, play games, read, etc. But she can't go in the front yard or down to the creek probably because of the steep hill. But luckily her flower garden is in the back and she can sit out there and enjoy that. I know she'll just love being back in her kitchen looking out the window watching the hummingbirds feed. Even though she won't be able to do a lot of the things that she wants to she'll still just be so happy to be home.

So that's whats going on. She should be going home on Monday!!!

this weekend

Mom and I went to Atlanta to visit G-mommy. We left a little after 1 on friday and hit traffic outside of Columbus which wasted 45mins. So that put us getting into Atlanta during traffic and we didn't get to the hospital till 5:30. We hung out with G-mommy for a while then left and went to eat supper and head to the house.

One of the smoke detectors battery was dying so it was beeping and we looked all over the house and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I took out the battery in one and change the battery in another and still something beeped alllll night long. It was very annoying. Saturday night though I figured out it was coming from the one in the basement and yanked it off the wall and took out the battery.

Saturday we got up ate at waffle house and went to Kohls cause they were having a wonderful sale and my mom wanted to gt some new kitchen towels for G-mommys house and I got a few new cloths as well :) Then we headed to the hospital. We played rummycube for a while and G-mommy had some quest so mom and I went and ate lunch while they were there. We came back and G-mommy wanted us to push her around in the wheel chair so we did for a little while and then we went into the family room and played uno for a little while. But G-mommy was getting really tired from everything that she had done so we went back to her room and she got into bed and rested. We left and went to get supper and went on to the house.

Sunday we got up, ate at Mcdonalds and went to see G-mommy. We washed her hair which was pretty great cause she actually stood up at the sink and leaned her head over the sink to wet it. Some of her friends came to visit and we went to lunch while the chatted with her. When we got back G-mommy walked the hall some and then we went and sat in that family room again and played some more games. We left around 5 and ate at fudruckers in colubus which was really great.

Over all the weekend was nice. G-mommy is doing great walking around and everything. I actually kinda looked at her wounds today and of course was totally grossed out but acording to everyone else who has seen it before knows that it looks sooooo much better. It's healing wonderfully. The only problem their having is that they can't patch her up without it leaking because of how her wound is. So we don't know what their going to do. They've got to get that figured out before she can go home. Anyways that's about it.
